KDADS South Central Regional Mental Health Hospital

This 104-bed state-run psychiatric hospital is currently under construction and is expected to be operational by 2027. It will bring much-needed resources to a region that has too long faced a shortage of psychiatric beds.

As the first of many projects at OneRise, the mental health hospital will pave the way for a future where care is connected, accessible, and rooted in dignity and hope.

While secure, the hospital will not be hidden or isolated. It will be thoughtfully integrated into a vibrant community setting designed for whole-person healing.

Housing

We aim to create a truly integrated community where people at different stages of healing and stability can live with dignity and support. The NewLeaf Grove community, now in progress, is designed to meet the needs of a diverse population, including:

  • People in recovery or behavioral health treatment who need transitional or supportive housing to stabilize and heal
  • Unhoused people who are ready to move into more permanent housing with wraparound supports
  • Working people and families with lower incomes who need high-quality, affordable housing options

We’re planning a mix of housing types to reflect this vision.

Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)

The FQHC will address the community’s primary care needs. It will play a pivotal role in delivering accessible, high-quality care to underserved populations, underscoring our commitment to health equity and community wellbeing.

Detox/Rehab Center

There is a rising demand for addiction treatment services in South Central Kansas. Integrated with the FQHC and other medical offices on campus, this center will provide critical services in a community focused on holistic health and recovery.

Community Care Center

This center will provide a range of essential services, including wellness programs, preventive care, social services and support groups. It will help address both the physical and mental health needs of the community.

Medical Office Buildings

The OneRise Health Campus will be a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem, offering a range of ancillary services alongside the mental health hospital. These may include outpatient care, specialty clinics, diagnostic facilities and behavioral health specialties.

There are also opportunities to provide workforce development for the mental health hospital, creating synergies for providers dedicated to training and professional growth.

Childcare

The childcare facility will meet the diverse needs of the community, including the families of those who work on campus. It will provide a safe and nurturing environment that integrates seamlessly with broader support services.

By offering comprehensive care, including therapeutic support and educational resources, the childcare facility will help families create a stable and healthy environment for their children.

Agriculture/Horticulture Therapy

There is something powerful about reconnecting with the land. We currently offer opportunities for agriculture and horticulture therapy through various land uses as our campus develops.

Workforce Development & Education

We’re seeking partners who are passionate about equipping individuals with the skills, training and educational opportunities needed to thrive. Whether it’s GED support, trade certifications, job placement programs, or life skills training, we aim to empower those living on and around the OneRise campus with pathways to meaningful employment and long-term stability.

Providing supportive services is more than a shelter or crisis space, or temporary housing. It’s all of the above. It’s an exciting time to change the paradigm and create an example, an idea, that will continue to expand around the country.
